On Thursday night, Grayson County Deputy Sheriff Fred Norder served a Caneyville man with a multi-felony arrest warrant out of Ohio County.

According to Ohio County Sheriff Tracy Beatty, 30-year-old Adam Lacefield was arrested by Deputy Norder after he was accused of kidnapping and robbing Ohio County resident Noreen McCormick, the mother of Lacefield’s 24-year-old girlfriend, Samantha McCormick, who has also been charged in the case.

Sheriff Beatty said on the night of September 12, 2017, Lacefield and Samantha McCormick entered Noreen McCormick’s residence on El Retiro Lane in Ohio County and “rummaged through” the residence searching for money. When Noreen McCormick intervened and threatened to call police, Lacefield held the older McCormick on the floor, with Noreen McCormick telling her mother, “Bitch, you ain’t calling nobody,” while threatening to physically harm her if she did not give them money.

Samantha McCormick also pointed a pellet gun at Noreen McCormick and said, “I could shoot you right now,” according to Sheriff Beatty.

The two suspects fled the residence after taking cash and Noreen McCormick’s cell phone.

Samantha McCormick was arrested on October 3 and charged with robbery, kidnapping, theft by unlawful taking, and terroristic threatening. She was lodged in the Ohio County Detention Center but has since been released from custody, according to the jail’s website.

Lacefield was charged in the Ohio County warrant with robbery, kidnapping, receiving stolen property, theft by unlawful taking, and being a persistent felony offender. He’s currently being held in the Grayson County Detention Center (awaiting transport to Ohio County) on a $50,000 bond.

This accusation is only the latest brush with the law for Lacefield; for on the night of October 16, Lacefield and an accomplice were arrested for stealing a jet ski and trailer from the 2600 block of Blowtown Road.

Only minutes after being alerted to the theft, Leitchfield Police Department Sergeant Robert Jackson spotted the vehicle the two suspects were traveling in near Kirby’s Corner (at the intersection of Sadler Road and Shrewsbury Road). Jackson was soon joined by LPD Officer Joe Overton, as the pair tracked the suspects and executed a traffic stop on the Jeep Grand Cherokee on West White Oak Street, in a parking lot across from Leitchfield City Hall.

After the owner of the jet ski and trailer arrived on the scene, and identified the items as his property, Lacefield and his accomplice were arrested and charged with receiving stolen property.
