A Lexington doctor was arrested Monday afternoon after showing up for surgery intoxicated.
Lexington Police arrested plastic surgeon, Dr. Theodore Gerstle, not far from Baptist Health Lexington.
After discovering that Dr. Gerstle may me intoxicated, hospital administration put procedures in place and the hospital’s chief medical officer spoke to Dr. Gerstle, when he left the hospital on foot. He was arrested for public intoxication soon after walking away from the facility.
Dr. Gerstle’s privileges at Baptist Health Lexington have been suspended and he will not practice until the issue has been investigated and resolved, according to multiple media reports.
Dr. Gerstle had only one procedure scheduled for Monday and it had not yet started when the allegation against him was made.
