The Grayson County High School track and field team hosted senior night earlier this week before their home meet.
The team, coached by Matt Hayes, honored the following:
- Amelia Hayes – Daughter of Matt and Lori Hayes
- Raylee Shepherd – Daughter of Kenny and Missy Shepherd
- Houston Brooks – Son of Keith and Karen Brooks
- Tyler Portman – Son of Kristi and Michael Portman
- Ryan Higdon – Son of Nichole and the late Robbie Higdon
During the competition phase, Grayson County won the girls’ meet with the boys coming in second, just behind Edmonson County.
Individual event winners included a 4x200m relay girls team, Houston Brooks in the 800/1600/3200m, a boys/girls sweep in the 4x100m, Sophie Butler in the 300m, Lindsay Miller in the 200m, the boys 4x400m, Matthew Mudd in the high jump, Amelia Hayes in the pole vault, and Cherish Chamberlain in the shot put.
The team has less than a month until the Class 3A regional, which will be held on May 19 at Bowling Green High School.
