A Pike County man has been arrested for setting his mother’s house on fire.
Following an investigation, Kentucky State Police arrested 46-year-old David May, of Elkhorn City, for allegedly setting the fire on Sunday morning at his mother’s home at 931 Pond Creek Road, in far southeastern Pike County.
May’s mother told state police that her son was in the garage when the fire began, but that she wasn’t sure how he started the blaze, according to WYMT.com.
May was arrested at his home, approximately one mile from his mother’s house. As police returned to the fire scene with May, he “began yelling at the firefighters and kicking the windows and bars of the police car.”
He was charged with first-degree arson, menacing, public intoxication (excluding alcohol), and disorderly conduct and lodged in the Pike County Detention Center on a $20,000 surety bond.
