Human remains have been discovered by a man and his son while the duo was hiking.
The Rowan County Coroner’s Office said the skeletal remains were found Sunday evening on Trent Ridge Road, approximately 10 miles east of Morehead in southeastern Rowan County.
“Personnel from Kentucky State Police, the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office, and the Rowan County Coroner’s Office conducted a search of the area for additional evidence and potential clues,” the coroner’s office said.
The state Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort will assist in determining the identity of the remains.
The investigation remains ongoing and is being led by KSP Det. David Zimmerman and Rowan Co. Coroner John Northcutt.
