The payroll clerk for Oak Grove has been accused of stealing thousands of dollars from the city.
Hailey A. Bamford, 38, of Ft. Campbell, was indicted on 14 counts of tampering with public records and abuse of public trust (less than $10,000) after a Kentucky State Police audit uncovered the suspect had, on several occasions, falsified her time entry and altered her time sheets as well as falsified entries and altered and deleted records related to the business payroll for the city.
The investigation further revealed that from May 2022 through October 2023, Bamford falsified business records to obtain city taxpayer money via theft of time for a minimum of $6,208.75, according to state police.
Following her indictment, she was arrested at Oak Grove City Hall and lodged in the Christian County Detention Center.
Bamford, according to online records, was arrested in Christian County in May 2022 on a fugitive from another state warrant.
Oak Grove has a population of roughly 8,000 residents.
