Drug task force seizes nearly 20lbs of meth, two ounces of cocaine in Elizabethtown

A Hardin County man has been busted with nearly 20 pounds of methamphetamine and nearly two ounces of cocaine.

The Greater Hardin County Narcotics Task Force on Friday afternoon executed a search warrant at a residence on Bardstown Road, just east of Elizabethtown.

During a search, police seized 17 pounds of methamphetamine, 54 grams of cocaine (nearly two ounces), 16 oxycodone pills, and a small amount of marijuana and steroids, the task force said.

Marvin D. Brookins, 48, of Elizabethtown, was arrested and charged with three counts of trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine, cocaine, oxycodone), possession of a controlled substance (anabolic steroids), trafficking in a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The suspect was lodged in the Hardin County Detention Center.

The task force said that additional suspects are expected to be charged as the investigation continues.
