The list of flooded roadways in Grayson County is dwindling as floodwaters recede, but a sign thief (or possibly thieves) has been putting people’s lives at risk.

Grayson County Judge-Executive Kevin Henderson, in a message to the Neanderthal[s] stealing high-water/road closed signs, stated: “Didn’t think I’d have to make this post, but here we go. If you feel the need to steal high-water signs and road closed signs, please just give us a call at the office 270-259-5000. We will order you one and let you pay for it.”

Henderson, stating the obvious to the sign-stealer[s], said, “We put these out for the community’s safety. You are putting people’s lives in danger.”

Henderson then noted that anyone caught stealing a road closed or high-water sign will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Anyone with information regarding who is stealing these signs, please contact the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office at 270-259-3024, the Leitchfield Police Department at 270-259-3850 or the Grayson County Dispatch non-emergency number at 270-259-0303.
