It is with great sadness that the family of Damon Lee Stasel of Leitchfield, announce his passing at the age of 77 at Grayson Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation in Leitchfield, KY on April 6, 2025. Damon Lee Stasel was born on June 30, 1947 in Millerstown, KY, the son of Austin and Marie Sullivan Stasel.
Damon was a self-employed contractor with Stasel’s Builders for 40 years. After retiring from building, he opened Stasel’s Auto Sales in Clarkson where he followed his trading passion. He loved having his big garden each year to “torment” the family. He enjoyed cooking and feeding anybody and everybody. When the first great-grandbaby, Lyla Mae, was born and too mobile to keep at the car lot, he took his 2 nd retirement in 2021.
Damon lived each day for Reva and all of the kids. His post-retirement job was cooking and babysitting. Anybody that knew Damon was aware that the little ones were his pride and joy! Even in the last 3 months after Reva’s passing, the kids still had sleepovers with their “PA” regularly.
Damon is survived by two daughters, Marcy Hill (Steve) of Leitchfield, and Teresa Mahurin (Steve) of Caneyville; four grandsons, Chris Hill (Amy) of Louisville, Brian Hill (Kim) of Leitchfield, Alex Shellhart (Ashley) of Bowling Green, and Cody Shellhart (Emily) of Caneyville; three great-grandchildren, Levi, Lyla Mae, and Bennett Shelhart; two step-grandchildren, Samantha Embry, and Jessica Mahurin; two step-great-grandchildren, Marshall and Jensen; two sisters, Bonnie Stasel and Linda Joyce (WD) both of Clarkson; and one “son he never had”, Roger Higdon of Leitchfield. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Other than his parents, he was recently preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Reva Stasel; and his sister, Gloria Dean.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, (April 10, 2025) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Cecil Williams will be officiating. Burial will be in the St. Benedict Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday and from 9:00 a.m. Thursday until time of services.
