Grayson County has received over a foot of rain since Wednesday.

Catastrophic flooding in Grayson County, evident wherever one looks, was spurred by 12.5 inches of rain the county received since Wednesday, according to the Kentucky Mesonet at WKU.

The county received the following rain amounts over the five previous days:

Wednesday – 1.28

Thursday – 4.31

Friday – 2.66

Saturday – 3.64

Sunday — .61

Nearly 30 roadways in the county were flooded as of Sunday (see list below), and Peter Cave bridge on Lilac Road at the Grayson/Breckinridge line is also closed due to high water (the bridge connecting Grayson and Breckinridge counties on Hwy 259 north is closed for repairs).

Additionally, the eastbound ramp of the Western Kentucky Parkway at Clarkson is closed.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet on Sunday said that: Due to a closure of the Western Kentucky Parkway in Hardin County, traffic on the eastbound parkway is now being diverted at I-165 in Ohio County.

Traffic trying to reach I-65 in Elizabethtown should exit onto southbound I-165 to I-65 in Bowling Green. Vehicles trying to reach Grayson County exits should utilize the left lane at this point, but be aware, it is currently impossible to reach Elizabethtown via the eastbound parkway.

Road closures in Grayson Co., per Judge-Exec. Kevin Henderson:
