Over four dozen Grayson County roads are either experiencing flooding or likely soon will, as the forecast calls for three to four more inches of rain on Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.

Additionally, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) told Grayson County officials that it is “highly probable that water will be over Peter Cave Bridge” on Hwy 737 (Lilac Rd.) sometime Saturday afternoon or during the evening hours.

Complicating matters, the bridge on Hwy 259 north (Brandenburg Rd.) is closed for repairs.

Once the Peter Cave bridge is closed, anyone needing to travel to Breckinridge County should take Hwy 79 (Falls of Rough Rd.) across Rough River Dam.

USACE said there’s approximately two feet of water inside the spillway. They predict, at minimum, five to six additional feet of water in the spillway before the weather event is over.

Western Kentucky Parkway

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) is rerouting traffic off and then back on to the WK Parkway at the White Mills exit due to flooding. Officials are using the ramps at the Hwy 84 exchange to detour around high water.

Only a few miles east, at the 126- and 127-mile markers, water is standing on the right lane and shoulder of the westbound parkway, the KYTC says.

Also, the I-65 northbound exit 91 ramp at Elizabethtown is shut down, as motorists can instead use exit 86 onto Hwy 31-W north to Elizabethtown/WK Parkway/Hodgenville.
