An Adair County teacher is in jail after being accused of having illegal sexual contact with a male juvenile lodged in a juvenile detention center, and soliciting the boy to kill her husband.
Kentucky State Police was notified last week by personnel at the Adair Juvenile Detention Center in Columbia that during a search of a juvenile’s living quarters, “letters and explicit material were found.”
The material had been sent by 27-year-old Elena K. Bardin, of Columbia, an Adair County teacher assigned to the facility, state police said.
The KSP investigation showed that Bardin solicited a male juvenile to kill her husband, and that the suspect had sexual contact with the juvenile and provided him with sexually explicit images of herself.
Bardin was arrested on Wednesday and charged with murder (solicitation), first-degree sexual abuse and distribution of obscene matter to a minor. She was lodged in the Adair County Regional Jail.
The investigation is ongoing and being led by KSP Det. Mike Dubree.
