Well over a dozen trees fell across roadways in Grayson County and a possible microburst flipped a modular structure into a truck in Big Clifty.
Fire departments from Leitchfield, Caneyville, Clarkson, East Grayson, and Falls of Rough, as well as Leitchfield Public Works, responded Wednesday night to multiple trees down across roadways. Two of the fallen trees took down power lines.
(At its peak, nearly 160 customers were without power in the county. Only 20 customers did not have electricity by 6:30 a.m. Thursday, according to Warren RECC)
At 11:55 p.m. Wednesday, the East Grayson Fire Department and EMS were dispatched to 83 Carman Drive (off Morrison Rd.) on the report of a house being picked up and dropped onto a truck. When firefighters arrived at the scene, they found a modular structure had flipped into a truck.
No one was injured.
A resident who lives 75 yards behind the scene told K105 he heard what sounded like a tornado just before discovering the structure had flipped onto a truck. A nearby motorcycle had also been tossed several feet from where it was parked.
Members of the East Grayson Fire Department told K105 that the area received an enormous gust of wind just before being dispatched to Carman Drive.
As this reporter traveled to Big Clifty on Elizabethtown Road, there was no debris in the roadway until reaching the “Big Clifty bridge,” on the west side of the community. The debris (mostly tree branches) was observed from the bridge to Duvall Lane on the east side of Big Clifty.
