A teenage motorcyclist has died after trying to pass a vehicle in a no-passing zone.

Kentucky State Police said troopers responded to the accident on Tuesday night at 8:15 on County House Road (Hwy 1366), approximately six miles east of Tompkinsville.

The investigation showed that 19-year-old Ty Graves, of Tompkinsville, was traveling west on County House Road on a 2007 Honda motorcycle when he attempted to pass a westbound vehicle in a no-passing zone.

Graves failed to see an eastbound 2023 Ford Explorer as he collided with the SUV. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased by the Monroe Co. Coroner’s Office.

The driver of the Explorer, 76-year-old Marilyn Deweese, of Tompkinsville, sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
