
James Ray Saltsman, age 86, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Wednesday, (March 26, 2025) at Grayson Nursing and Rehab in Leitchfield, KY.
He was born on September 26, 1938 in Grayson County, KY, the son of the late Ishmal and Maudine Stevenson Saltsman.
He was a carpenter and a farmer with a great sense of humor who enjoyed hunting, fishing and socializing. He was a member of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his three sons, Ricky Saltsman (Danna), Jeff Saltsman (Shirley) and Kenny Saltsman (Teresa); four grandchildren, Makaila, Cordell, Sherry & Penny; two great-grandchildren, Garrett & Jacob; a great-great granddaughter, Scarlett; and three sisters, Maxine Stinson, Cora Mae Newton & Magaline Hester. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Betty Jean Decker Saltsman; three brothers, Elwood “Pete”, Ed Jay, and Nathan Saltsman; a half-brother, Elmer Saltsman; and one sister, Mary Alice Newton.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, (March 31, 2025) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Burial will be in the Williams Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday and from 9:00 a.m. Monday until time of services.
