KSP releases new information on crash that killed Clarkson man

Kentucky State Police has released additional information on the fatal crash that took the life of a Clarkson man.

The accident occurred on Monday afternoon at approximately 3:15 when 42-year-old Charles Edward “Eddie” Cann was driving a 2007 GMC Sierra east in the 4800 block of Grayson Springs Road. The Sierra, according to state police, crossed the center line and struck a westbound semi-truck, being driven by 68-year-old Bennie T. Sims, of Clarkson.

Cann was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Grayson Co. Coroner’s Office. Sims was transported by EMS to Owensboro Health Twin Lakes Medical Center where he was treated and released.

Grayson Springs Road from Peonia Road to Annie Boone Road was shut down until a few minutes after 8:00 p.m.

In addition to state police, EMS and the Grayson Co. Coroner’s Office, responding to the crash were the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office, Clarkson Fire Department and Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.

The collision remains under investigation by KSP accident reconstructionist, Det. Kevin Dreisbach.
