A Hardin County man has been charged with beating a toddler to death.

As K105 previously reported, Elizabethtown Police Department spokesman Chris Denham said on January 10, 2025, that 20-year-old Terrance D. Corbin, of Radcliff, was providing childcare for two children, ages three- and 18-months-old, on January 7. No other adults were present.

At approximately 4:00 p.m. on January 7, Corbin contacted the mother of the children to report that the 18-month-old was breathing abnormally. A few minutes later, Corbin called 911 to report that the child was no longer breathing, Denham said.

Elizabethtown police, upon arriving at the home, decided to transport the toddler to Baptist Health Hardin. The child was later airlifted to Norton Children’s Hospital in Louisville.

“Medical evaluations revealed substantial swelling and bleeding in the soft tissue around her scalp and face, subdural hemorrhaging at multiple sites, and multiple skull fractures,” Denham said. “A pediatrician who specializes in child abuse noted the child’s skull fractures were the worst they had encountered during their time practicing medicine.”

Despite efforts to save the toddler’s life, she succumbed to her injuries on the afternoon of January 9 at Norton Children’s Hospital.

Earlier this month, a Hardin County Grand Jury indicted Corbin for murder, according to The News-Enterprise. He faces a minimum of 20 years in prison and a maximum penalty of death if convicted.

Corbin is lodged in the Hardin County Detention Center on a $500,000 cash bond.
