
The body of a U.S. Army soldier from Kentucky has been escorted by Kentucky State Police and others to his hometown in Casey County following his death in Germany.
On Monday afternoon, the body of 26-year-old Chaz McGowan, and infantryman assigned to the 1st Squadron, 2nd Cavalry Regiment in Vilseck, Germany, arrived at Muhammad Ali International Airport in Louisville on Monday afternoon at approximately 12:30.
The McGowan family and the Ft. Knox Funeral Honors Team were present for honors conducted on the airport tarmac.
McGowan’s casket was then escorted by Kentucky State Police and members of Rolling Thunder, a charity motorcycle group, from Louisville to McKinley-Brown Funeral Home in the fallen soldier’s hometown of Liberty.
The U.S. Army said in a statement that McGowan’s cause of death remains under investigation.
