Two fire departments responded to a large woods fire in Big Clifty.
The East Grayson and Clarkson Fire Departments responded to the fire in a wooded area in the 500-600 block of Lacon Skaggs Road Tuesday evening at approximately 5:40.
The fire, which possibly began with a spark as a power company was restoring electricity, according to Clarkson Fire Chief Andy Cain, charred between two and three acres of woodlands.
It took firefighters – of which there was a large turnout – about 20 to 25 minutes to bring the blaze under control, as the fire was completely extinguished in about 40 minutes.
Field and woods fires have become commonplace in Grayson County, as every fire department in the county has been dispatched to multiple field and woods fires of varying sizes over the last few weeks.
The Falls of Rough Fire Department last week battled two large field fires, as seen in the designated photos below.
All of Kentucky remains under a daytime burn ban, as it is illegal to burn within 150 feet of brushland or woodlands between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. The ban expires on April 30.
