A roadway opened just outside of Fordsville partially swallowing two vehicles.

The Fordsville Fire Department on Saturday said two vehicles fell into the crater created by the roadway’s collapse, presumably caused by the heavy rainfall the area received over the last several weeks.

The fire department said one of the vehicles was occupied by one person while the other vehicle had five passengers. The people were removed from the vehicles with no injuries reported.

The incident happened at the north end of Canary Loop off Hwy 69 north, less than a mile southwest of Fordsville. The north section of the roadway is closed until repairs can be made.
