A Leitchfield woman has been charged after she allegedly pulled a child’s hair so hard that it left a bald spot on the child’s head.
The Leitchfield Police Department said officers were notified on Tuesday that a one-year-old child was injured while at a local daycare facility.
Based on a surveillance video, a daycare worker, identified as 24-year-old Keshia S. Cochran, was monitoring a room of small children when she approached the victim and pulled the child’s hair.
“On the surveillance video, the child begins screaming uncontrollably and the worker appears to throw something in the trash can which officers believed to be a handful of hair,” according to Leitchfield police.
The child, according to police, had a “complete bald spot over 6 centimeters of its scalp.”
Under questioning by police on Wednesday, Cochran admitted to “pulling the child’s hair and removing a substantial amount of hair from the child’s head.”
Cochran was charged with first-degree criminal abuse and lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center.
