A driver fell asleep and struck a semi-truck while traveling on the Western Kentucky Parkway near Leitchfield.
The accident occurred at 7:00 p.m. Monday between the 107- and 108-mile markers of the westbound parkway and resulted in Leitchfield Police Department Sgt. Chuck Hoover and Officer Erik Franklin, the Leitchfield Fire Department and EMS responding.
Upon arriving at the scene, first responders found that a Leitchfield woman driving a Ford Focus fell asleep and collided with the rear of a Bacon By Gosh-owned semi-truck, according to Leitchfield police. The woman then lost control of the car as it flipped into a ditch, landing on its roof.
The woman, while shaken, refused treatment. The semi driver was uninjured.
