The Grayson County High School Cougars play in its first 3rd Region Tournament title game in 16 years Tuesday night at the Owensboro Sportscenter.

The Cougars, now 26-6 on the season, will make their first appearance in a region title game since 2009, and its fourth trip overall (1993, 2001). Tipoff is slated for 7:00 p.m.

In an effort to show community support for the Cougars, who take on Daviess County in the title tilt, a sendoff rally will be held at Grayson County High School on Tuesday at 4:45 p.m.

“Our boys are heading to the Region Championship on Tuesday. Let’s show our team some support before they head into battle,” reads a social media post regarding the pep rally.

Attendees are encouraged to make signs, decorate cars and wear Cougar orange for the event.

The Cougars, since January 17, have posted a 15-2 record and have won eight straight games over a plethora of strong teams, including an 86-84 triple-overtime thriller over Daviess County at the Cougar Den on February 17.

The Cougars are led in scoring by super sophomore Jack Logsdon at 20.9 points per game, while junior Brody Armstrong, the engine that makes the Cougars go, puts up 16.1 points per contest. Do-it-all defensive dynamo, sophomore guard Spencer Langdon, who scored his 1,000th career point against Butler County on February 28, averages 14. 8 points per game.

A strong shooting squad, the Cougars make 35.1 percent of their 3-point shots and are led by Armstrong’s 44.3 percent shooting from long range.

If Tuesday’s game comes down to free throw shooting, Logsdon (78.4 percent) and Armstrong (78.5 percent) give the Cougars a strong presence on the line.

As a team, the Cougars make 72.2 percent of their free throws.

While not blessed with great size, head coach Travis Johnston’s Cougars battle on the boards and boast three players who average at least five rebounds per game – Logsdon (6.9), Armstrong (5.9) and Langdon (5.3).

If you aren’t able to attend Tuesday night’s contest, you can listen to Sam Gormley and Steven Smith’s call of the action on K105 or via the K105 app. Additionally, a paid video stream can be found by following this link: k105.com/region.
