Anna Rea Kinkade, age 85, of Leitchfield, KY, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on February 25, 2025.
She was born in the Hanging Rock Community of Grayson County to Woodrow Childress of Union Light in Edmonson County and Elma (Probus) Childress, the daughter of Joe and Sadie Probus, also of Hanging Rock.
Her husband of 58 years, Robert Gene Kinkade, preceded her in death as well as a brother, Freddie (Rose) and a sister, Alice Grant (John).
Surviving her are three children Cheryl (David), Don (Wannetta) and Steve (Susie). Also surviving her are three brothers, Chester Childress, Jerry Childress, Larry Childress, one sister-in-law Rose York, 9 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Anna Rea was well known around Leitchfield from her many years with the Albert H. Thomason Farm Bureau Insurance Agency and for being the owner of Kinkade-Cornell Insurance Agency.
One of her proudest achievements was when the City of Leitchfield elected her as the first female City Council Member, allowing her to serve her friends.
She loved to travel and enjoyed gardening, growing interesting heirloom house plants, many of which were decades old, as well as collecting several styles of antique glassware.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, (March 04, 2025) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Jimmy McIntosh will be officiating. Burial will be in the Walnut Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, March 3, 2025 and from 9:00 a.m. Tuesday until time of services.
