
The unusual weather that struck Kentucky, including heavy rainfall, several inches of snow and single-digit temperatures, over a period of several days earlier this month has so far been responsible for 22 deaths (as of Monday at 10:00 a.m.)
Twelve of the deaths were floodwater-related, seven were the result of hypothermia, two deaths were motor vehicle accidents related to the weather, and one death was fire-related. The most recent weather-related death was on Monday in Marshall County after a male died from hypothermia.
According to the Gov. Andy Beshear’s office, the following is the location, gender and cause of death for the nearly two dozen victims:
- Caldwell County – Adult Male – Floodwater-related
- Clay County – Adult male – Floodwater-related
- Floyd County – Adult male – Floodwater-related
- Hardin County – Adult male – Floodwater-related
- Hart County – Adult female – Floodwater-related
- Hart County – Adult male – Related to a motor vehicle accident
- Hart County – Child – Floodwater-related
- Jefferson County – Adult female – Hypothermia
- Jefferson County – Adult male – Hypothermia
- Livingston County – Adult male – Fire-related
- Logan County – Adult Male – Hypothermia
- Marshall County – Adult Male – Hypothermia
- Morgan County – Adult female – Hypothermia
- Nelson County – Adult male – Related to a motor vehicle accident
- Ohio County – Adult Male – Floodwater-related
- Pike County – Adult male – Floodwater-related
- Pike County – Adult male – Floodwater-related
- Pike County – Adult male – Floodwater-related
- Pike County – Adult male – Hypothermia
- Scott County – Adult male – Floodwater-related
- Warren County – Adult Female – Hypothermia
