An elderly wrong-way driver has been killed in head-on collision.
Kentucky State Police said troopers responded to the crash Friday morning at approximately 1:30 near the intersection of Hwy 27 and East Main Street in Stanford.
The state police investigation showed that a 2004 Buick, being driven by 75-year-old Sandra S. Arie, of Creve Coeur, Illinois, was traveling south on Hwy 27 in the northbound lane.
The Buick then collided head-on with a 2017 Toyota, being driven by 19-year-old Alexis Slone, of Waynesburg, state police said.
Arie was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Lincoln County Coroner’s Office. Slone was transported to Ephraim McDowell Fort Logan Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The ongoing investigation is being conducted by Trooper Seth Owens.
