The father of a four-year-old boy has been arrested after the child accidentally shot himself.
The Louisville Metro Police Department arrested 23-year-old Jacob T. Mosley, of Louisville, on Tuesday and charged him with second-degree assault, second-degree criminal abuse (victim under the age of 12) and first-degree wanton endangerment.
The arrest arose after the child was taken to University of Louisville Health – Medical Center Southwest with a gunshot wound to his arm. The child was later transferred to Norton Children’s Hospital.
The ensuing investigation showed that Mosley left a firearm on a nightstand while he took a shower, according to multiple media reports. While in the shower, Mosley heard a popping noise and discovered his son had shot himself.
The incident took place on Mango Court, in the Pleasure Ridge Park area of Jefferson County.
Mosley was lodged in Louisville Metro Corrections.
