
A tornado touched down in Simpson County on Saturday night.
The National Weather Service (NWS) said an EF-1 twister, with a top speed of 90 miles per hour, touched down approximately five miles west of Franklin. The tornado struck the area at about 9:45 p.m.
Based on photos posted by the NWS, several outbuildings, barns and homes suffered varying amounts of damage. It’s unclear how long or how wide the twister was, as NWS damage assessors continue their work.
No injuries were reported.
