A healthcare-related bill sponsored by Leitchfield Republican state Senator Steve Meredith, and “aimed a reducing administrative burdens” in the healthcare industry, has been passed by the Kentucky Senate.
“Senate Bill (SB) 13 reduces administrative burdens for healthcare providers by capping the number of managed care organizations (MCOs) in Kentucky’s Medicaid system at three,” according to Meredith’s office.
“Healthcare providers should be focused on patient care, not bureaucracy,” Meredith said. “By streamlining Kentucky’s Medicaid system, we are cutting unnecessary red tape by making it easier for hospitals, clinics, and medical professionals to deliver quality care, especially in underserved communities. I urge my colleagues in the House of Representatives to strongly consider the benefits of this legislation and join us in ensuring a more efficient and effective Medicaid system for Kentucky.”
The bill has been sent to the House for consideration. If enacted, SB 13 would take effect on January 1, 2026.
