A man has been found deceased in a truck that was swept off a roadway in Scott County.

Scott County Coroner Mark Sutton told news outlets that the victim, 65-year-old Paul J. Licato, of Cynthiana, was found deceased in a truck on Davis Road near Sadieville.

Sutton said he believes the truck was swept off the road and into a ravine late Saturday night.

The truck was spotted by a passerby on Monday afternoon at 1:00.

Licato’s death brings to 12 the number of people who have died in flood-related accidents, including three people in each Hart and Pike counties. Hardin, Floyd, Washington, Clay, Scott, and Nelson counties all recorded one weather-related death.

“I’ve got more tough news,” Gov. Andy Beshear said Monday evening. “The death toll in Kentucky has now risen to 12. We must remember, this isn’t just a number; these are Kentuckians who will be missed by their families and loved ones. Please pray for our commonwealth and our neighbors who have lost people they love.”

Kentucky has received assistance from National Guard members from Indiana and Tennessee. Relief workers from North Carolina, Ohio and Missouri are also assisting state and local rescue squads as more than 1,000 emergency rescues have been conducted in the state.

In Martin County, more than 230 people were rescued from an apartment complex that had no power and was being threatened by rising floodwaters, according to Beshear. The governor said nine helicopters provided by the National Guard and Kentucky State Police, as well as out-of-state copters, rescued 237 apartment complex residents.
