A man has been charged after Kentucky State Police said troopers busted “an organized chicken-fighting event” in Nelson County.
State police said troopers responded Monday morning at 11:00 to a report of animal cruelty at 1950 Pottershop Road, approximately one mile southeast of Bardstown.
“Troopers and detectives immediately responded to the property and made contact with the owner along with other individuals,” state police said.
As a result of the investigation, the property owner, 37-year-old Aaron John Thompson, of Bardstown, was charged with second-degree cruelty to animals and cited to Nelson County District Court.
The investigation is ongoing and being led Trooper Eric Hines.
