A juvenile has shot and killed two home intruders, according to Kentucky State Police.
The incident happened Saturday morning at approximately 4:30 when the Manchester Police Department responded to the report of a shooting at a residence in the Manchester city limits in Clay County.
Upon arriving at the scene, Manchester police discovered two men had been shot, and requested assistance from state police. When KSP investigators arrived at the home, they determined the two men “had forcibly entered a residence with the intention of stealing firearms from a safe.”
During the burglary, a juvenile discovered the intruders and observed the men holding firearms.
The juvenile, “acting in self-defense,” police said, retrieved a handgun and shot both men before escaping through a bedroom window.
One of the men, 51-year-old Jeffrey M. Allen, of Manchester, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The other man, 44-year-old Roger D. Smith, of McKee, was transported to Advent Health Manchester where he died from his injuries.
The investigation is ongoing.
