A mother and her seven-year-old daughter died when their vehicle was swept away by floodwaters in Hart County.

The deadly incident occurred Saturday night at approximately 10:30 on Campground Road when Bacon Creek flooded about two miles west of Bonnieville.

Hart County Coroner Tony Roberts told news outlets that crews from Campbellsville and Hart County responded to the scene and recovered the seven-year-old’s body from the vehicle late Saturday night. The mother’s body was recovered on Sunday afternoon after rising floodwaters forced first-responders to call off the search Saturday evening, according to media reports.

The names of the victims have not been released.
