A 76-year-old man has been sentenced to nearly a decade in prison for molesting children.
The Kentucky Attorney General’s Office announced that Chester Griffith, of Grayson, pled guilty to two felony counts of first-degree sexual abuse and two counts of first-degree criminal attempt to commit sexual abuse (victims under the age of 12).
The offenses occurred between January 1976 and December 1978.
He was sentenced to eight years in prison. Griffith is not eligible for probation and will be a lifetime registrant on the Kentucky Sex Offender Registry, according to the attorney general’s office.
“This is a predator who exploited our most vulnerable for years. Now, thanks to the relentless efforts of investigators and prosecutors, he will be unable to harm kids from his new vantage point of a prison cell,” Attorney General Russell Coleman.
Kentucky State Police investigated the case.
