Man with history of arrests for violent behavior accused of hitting girlfriend with vehicle, fleeing the scene

An Adair County man with a history of violent behavior is facing up to 10 years in prison after hitting his girlfriend with a vehicle.

Kentucky Sate Police said troopers responded to the report of an assault at a residence on Kellyville Road, approximately 10 miles of Columbia, on Saturday morning at 5:30.

Upon troopers arriving, they discovered that 50-year-old Tyron E. Vanarsdale, of Columbia, was in an argument with his girlfriend when he entered his vehicle. As he was leaving, he “struck his girlfriend with his vehicle and left the property,” according to state police.

The victim, who suffered non-life threatening injuries, was transported to a hospital.

Vanarsdale was arrested and charged with second-degree assault (a class C felony), first-degree wanton endangerment (a class D felony) and leaving the scene of an accident/failure to render aid.

He was lodged in the Adair County Detention Center.

Vanarsdale, according to online records, has been arrested numerous times since 2003 for offenses including violating an EPO/DVO (multiple times), resisting arrest, menacing, disorderly conduct, possession of methamphetamine (multiple times), possession of anabolic steroids, fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle), felony wanton endangerment, multiple DUIs, and public intoxication.
