A teenager has died after crashing into an eastern Kentucky courthouse.
The crash happened Tuesday morning at approximately 6:00 in Barbourville when a 17-year-old male crashed into pillars at the Knox County Courthouse. One of the pillars was completely demolished.
The teenager was transported to Barbourville Appalachian Regional Healthcare where he was later pronounced deceased.
WKYT.com reports that the teenager was driving on Main Street at a high rate of speed.
Structural engineers are evaluating the damage, but the courthouse opened for regular business on Tuesday as the back entrances to the building remained open.
No other details have been released.
