Running out gas was particularly unfortunate for one drug trafficker as Kentucky State Police seized over 10 pounds of methamphetamine on I-75 while checking on a disabled vehicle.
Kentucky State Police Post 11 Public Affairs Officer Scottie Pennington said Trooper Brian Maupin responded last week to a report of a disabled vehicle on I-75. Upon Maupin arriving and approaching the vehicle, the driver, 37-year-old Reginald Barber, of Cincinnati, ran from Maupin and, after being apprehended, fought with the trooper.
During a search of Barber’s vehicle, Maupin’s K-9 Officer Gunner led police to the discovery of 11 pounds of methamphetamine and a Mason jar full of marijuana.
Barber was arrested and charged with trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine), fleeing or evading police (on foot), resisting arrest, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was lodged in the Rockcastle County Detention Center on a $50,000 cash bond.
