A young eastern Kentucky man has been killed after a motorist ran a red light.
Kentucky State Police said troopers responded to the crash on Hwy 23 in Boyd County Friday morning at approximately 8:45.
The investigation showed that a 2021 Jeep Gladiator, being driven by 59-year-old Henry Birchfield, was traveling north on Hwy 23 “when he disregarded a traffic control device” and hit a 2017 Hyundai Sonata, being driven by 23-year-old by Jordan R. Huff, of Boyd County, according to state police.
Huff was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Boyd County Coroner’s Office. Birchfield was transported to St. Mary’s Medical Center.
The crash remains under investigation by KSP Det. Nathan Carter.
