A motorist struck a Kentucky State Police cruiser as a trooper was working an accident on I-65.

The incident happened at noon on Sunday at the 57-mile marker of the northbound interstate when Trooper Landon Key “had just concluded working a collision …,” according to state police.

Key was on the outside shoulder with his emergency equipment activated when his cruiser was rear-ended by a northbound vehicle. He was transported to T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow where he was treated for his injuries and released.

The driver of the vehicle that struck the cruiser was given a citation for failure to yield to an emergency vehicle.
