A University of Kentucky football player has been arrested for racing on the Bluegrass Parkway.

Starting safety Jordan A. Lovett, 21, of Radcliff, was arrested Monday night just after 10:00 when Kentucky State Police clocked Lovett and another driver traveling at 120 miles per hour near the 26-mile marker in Nelson County.

Lovett was charged with speeding 26 mph or more over the limit, reckless driving, possession of marijuana, and failure to produce an insurance card. He was lodged in the Nelson County Detention Center and released on Tuesday.

Lovett, a fourth-year junior, started all 12 games last season and was second on the team in tackles with 63. He had two interceptions.

Lovett attended North Hardin High School.

The UK football program is aware of the incident and is handling the situation internally, a spokesperson told media outlets.

According to the Herald-Leader, this is not Lovett’s first speeding-related incident.

“In May 2021 he was also stopped on the Bluegrass Parkway in Nelson County for driving 90 mph in a 70 mph zone. In October 2021, UK police stopped Lovett for driving 54 mph in a 25 mph zone on South Limestone.”
