A teenager has been charged with manslaughter after shooting and killing a family member on Christmas.
The incident occurred on Christmas night at approximately 10:20 at a residence on Hwy 3482 in Calvin in Bell County, about seven miles east of Pineville.
The investigation, according to the Bell County Sheriff’s Office, showed that 18-year-old Hunter Smith fatally shot a family member, 55-year-old Michael Smith, of Calvin, during an argument. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Bell County Coroner’s Office.
Hunter Smith was arrested by the Bell County Sheriff’s Office on Monday and charged with first-degree manslaughter and lodged in the Bell County Detention Center.
The investigation is ongoing.
