Russell Clifford Kerr, age 92, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Saturday, (December 28, 2024) at his residence. He was born on November 19, 1932 in Grayson County, KY, the son of the late Samuel and Nancy Stevenson Kerr.
Russell retired from General Electric after working 32 years, starting out on the line and then in the warehouse. He was a former member of the American Legion Post # 81, and a former mason. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in Korea. He enjoyed walking, and artifact hunting. He was an avid UK basketball fan. Russell loved spending time with his family and always had a great sense of humor. He
loved going to his church at Bloomington Baptist; where he once was a song leader.
He married his wife and the love of his life, Nellie B. Day Kerr in 1954.
He is survived by his son, Rick Kerr; two sisters, Elizabeth Davis and Grace Kerr; five grandchildren, Derrick Kerr, Jessica Hunt, Dustin Kerr, Daniel Bookwalter, and Nellie Kerr; eight great-grandchildren, Alyssa Pierce, Jakob Kerr, Layne Hunt, Austin Kerr, Christian Kerr, Ethan Kerr, Claire Bookwalter, and Kaelynn Kerr; and one great-great-grandson on the way, Collen Russell Overby.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie B. Day Kerr; his son, Rusty Samuel Kerr; and his sister, Wilma Decker.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, (January 3, 2025) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Blake Newton will be officiating. Burial will be in the Landis Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday and from 9:00 a.m. Friday until time of services.
