Kentucky State Police is investigating two officer-involved shootings that occurred barely 24 hours apart.
The latest shooting occurred Wednesday morning just after midnight in Nelson County when deputies were dispatched to conduct a welfare check in Coxs Creek, approximately six miles north of Bardstown.
When deputies arrived on scene, “a confrontation occurred between the suspect and deputies,” according to the Nelson Co. Sheriff’s Office, when the “suspect brandished a handgun and shots were fired.”
The suspect was struck “and first aid was rendered,” the sheriff’s office said.
No other information was released.
Monday shooting
On Monday night at approximately 11:50, a London police officer shot 63-year-old Douglas Harless, of Lily, while police executed a search warrant at 511 Vanzant Road in Lily, about seven miles south of London.
Harless was pronounced deceased by the Laurel County Coroner’s Office.
