JoAnn Brooks Gary, age 78, of Caneyville, KY passed away Monday, (December 16, 2024) at her home surrounded by family. She was born on September 1, 1946 in Daviess County, KY, the daughter of the late Joe and Hettie Mae Flener Brooks.
JoAnn married the love of her life, Presto Gary, on July 10, 1965, they were blessed with five children who were her life. She was a homemaker who enjoyed the outdoors, being a farm wife and singing gospel music. She, her husband, and their band, KY Sound Old Time Gospel, would travel many miles to bless congregations all over the country with their singing. Her faith in the lord and doing his work was inspiring to many. She was a member of the Chapel Union Missionary Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Presto Gary of Caneyville, KY; children, Deanna Gary of Leitchfield, Donita Ashley (Tootie) of Anneta, Daniel Gary, Denisa Geary, and David Gary (Brittany) all of Caneyville; twelve grandchildren, Kelli (Aaron), Brena (Logan), Tyler (Kursten), Erin, Shelby, Preston, Izzy, Abby, Bentley, McKinley, Halley Jo, and Lilley; three great-grandchildren, Stella Jo, Emma, and Langston; brothers, Richard Brooks (Karen) and Vivin Brooks; sister-in-law, Mary Fishburn. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Tavie Bowman.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, (December 23, 2024) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Mickey Coates and Bro. Joey Decker will be officiating. Burial will be in the Chapel Union Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday and from 9:00 a.m. Monday until time of services.
