A Butler County father has been formally accused of killing his son.

A Butler County Grand Jury recently indicted 81-year-old Carl Martin, of Rochester, on murder and tampering with physical evidence charges in the shooting death of his son, 49-year-old Jason Martin, according to Beech Tree News.

The shooting occurred on the morning of Thursday, October 25, when Jason Martin asked his father to purchase alcohol for him. The elder Martin told police that when he returned to the residence after buying the alcohol he found his son walking in the yard saying he had been shot.

Carl Martin told police he took his son to Butler Co. Family Care in Morgantown but the office was closed. He then took Jason Martin to nearby Smith Funeral Home to ask someone to call an ambulance, but his son was already deceased.

While being questioned, the elder Martin’s recounting of the events was questioned by law enforcement. Then, later in the evening, police discovered evidence that led to the arrest of Carl Martin for murder.
