A western Kentucky man was arrested twice in three days after riding a mule while intoxicated and fleeing police on the animal.
The first incident occurred Saturday night at approximately 9:10 when the Murray Police Department was dispatched to an alcohol establishment after 39-year-old Jonathan C. Mason, of Murray, was disorderly inside the business. He eventually left the establishment on a mule and refused to stop for police, according to a report by WPSD.com.
Mason, who witnesses say physically abused the mule, was eventually arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, alcohol intoxication in a public place, third-degree criminal trespassing, and second-degree cruelty to animals.
He was lodged in the Calloway County Detention Center.
Then, on Monday afternoon just before 1:00, Mason arrived where the mule was stabled, took the mule and began riding it on a roadway. When police arrived, officers found Mason riding the mule as he again refused to stop.
He was arrested and charged with fleeing or evading police and second-degree cruelty to animals and lodged in the Calloway County Detention Center.
