Patsy Edwards Swift, age 86, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Tuesday, (December 3, 2024) at Baptist Health Hardin in Elizabethtown, KY. She was born on January 19, 1938 in Short Creek, KY, the daughter of the late Ottie and Osie Wilson Edwards.

She was a lover of many things: her golf cart, playing cards, cooking, canning, quilting, bowling, and playing board games. Patsy was known to be a prankster and was famous for her turkey and dressing. She was considered selfless, as she would always put others before herself and thoroughly enjoyed taking care of everyone.

During the pandemic Patsy single handedly cooked a meal once a week to feed the nurses at the VA Clinic. Her generosity towards others is evident in the way she provided for people in need. Her determination was something to admire. If Patsy set her mind to something it was going to get done and done exceptionally well.

She loved to sing and enjoyed gospel and country music. Her family was so important to her; she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Above all, she loved the lord and was a member of Potter’s Hope.

She is survived by her seven children, Darlene Embry of Morgantown, KY, Diane Manning of Leitchfield, Darrell Swift (Brenda) of Lexington, KY, Dwane Swift of Louisville, KY, David Swift (Elizabeth) of Lebanon, OH, Tim Swift (Myra) of Leitchfield and Tammy Roy (Joe) of Rowlett, TX; grandchildren, Vanessa (Aaron), Darrell II (Jennifer),Courtney, Joseph (Samantha), Brittany (Matt), Darin ( Rachel), Whitni, Dillon, Mallory, Benjamin, Christian, Aaron and Bella; and 12 great-grandchildren and one more on the way. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Ray Swift; sons-in-law, Joffery Embry and Greg Manning; three brothers, Daymon Edwards, Jesse Elmer Edwards, Cecil Edwards; three sisters, Verlene Powell, Gerene Kersey and Dorothy Shain; and two infant brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, (December 10, 2024) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday and from 9:00 a.m. Tuesday until time of services.
