Kentucky State Police is conducting a death investigation after a newborn was found tossed over an embankment.
Troopers responded Friday morning at approximately 10:30 to an Owsley County hospital after a female at the hospital reported “a possible miscarriage.”
While at the hospital, a couple told police the infant was still at the residence on Lewis Lane in Booneville. When troopers arrived at the home, they located a deceased infant “over an embankment outside of the residence,” state police said.
The body was transported to the state Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort for an autopsy.
The investigation is being conducted by KSP Det. Anthony Bowling and the Owsley County Coroner’s Office.
