Elnora W. Embry, age 91, of Caneyville, KY, passed away Tuesday, (November 26, 2024) at her residence.
She was born on July 26, 1933 in Grayson County, KY, the daughter of the late Allie and Ida Minton Woosley.
She worked as a secretary for Commonwealth Life Insurance Company. In her earlier years, she received her teaching certificate and taught school. She had also worked as a teller in a bank in Louisville for a short time. Elnora loved gardening and her beautiful flowers. She always had a sunroom at her house because she loved sitting there and looking at her flowers that she had grown. She also loved to go shopping. Her great pleasure came from traveling with her best friend, Florence Johnson, and going to the mountains with her special friends, Tonya and James Pannell. Elnora was a member of the Caneyville Church of Christ.
She is survived by her special nephew and caregiver, Harl Woosley (who was more like a brother); her great niece and caregiver, Dena Mudd (Billy); her great niece and caregiver, Bridgett Swift; and her special friends, Tonya and James Pannell, (who were more like her daughter and son).
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ted Embry, Jr.; brothers, James, David, Harlan, Roger, Paul, and Barney; sisters, Nina, Dorothy, and Aileen.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, (December 3, 2024) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Jarrod Jacobs will be officiating. Burial will be in the Lumbustown Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday and from 9:00 a.m. Tuesday until time of services.
