Two people have perished in a house fire in Adair County.

According to the Columbia-Adair County Fire Department, the deadly blaze occurred a few minutes after midnight Sunday morning on Bull Run Road, approximately seven miles northeast of Columbia.

Upon arriving at the scene, firefighters found a fully engulfed two-story structure. There were three vehicles in the driveway with one of the vehicles on fire.

“Firefighters then conducted a defensive attack on this fire and kept the fire contained to the original structure,” the fire department said.

Firefighters spoke with family members of the people who occupied the home and were told “two people (were) unaccounted for.”

“Firefighters then completed extensive overhaul on the home,” the fire department stated, “and located two bodies within the home.”

A firefighter was injured while battling the blaze. He/she was transported by TJ Health Columbia with non-life threatening injuries.

The names of those who died in the fire have not been released.
